How to use the tool (FAQ)

How do I set my own prices?
The Assumptions card on the top left is where you control all the core numbers. Simply type your provider's costs into the input fields (e.g., "Prompt price / 1M tokens"). All calculations in the Estimator table will update instantly.
How does the Estimator work?
Each row in the Estimator is a scenario representing a type of workload (e.g., chatbot queries, document summaries). For each scenario, you enter the number of requests and the average tokens used for prompts and completions. The tool then calculates all the costs for you per-scenario and in total.
What are the "Blended Totals"?
The footer row of the Estimator table shows the blended or weighted-average costs across all your scenarios. This gives you a high-level view of your overall costs, such as the average cost per request and projected monthly cost, based on the mix of workloads you've defined.
How accurate is the Tokenizer?
The tokenizer at the bottom is a rough estimator. It uses a simple character-to-token ratio that you can set in the Assumptions. While useful for quick checks, it is not a substitute for the official tokenizer from your model provider. For precise billing and accurate counts, always use the provider's tool.
